The three-year renovation project of the East nine and West nine began in May 2013, and the final South nine course will be completed in the fall of 2015. The East -West course formerly hosted The Players Championship tournament from 1977 to 1981 prior to the tournament moving to its present location.
The Sawgrass Country Club courses are being renovated as part of the club's master plan to refurbish the golf course infrastructure. All the fairways, tees and bunkers are part of the renovation project. Substantial improvement work will be done on other areas of the golf course, including the bridges, drainage, cart paths, bulkheads and the irrigation system. Green renovations are planned for the future.
Sawgrass Country Club has been synonymous with great golf ever since it played host to The Players Championship in 1977. The premier PGA Tour event was played on our East-West Course through 1981, when it moved to its current site nearby at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) at Sawgrass.
Sawgrass Country Club continues the tradition of championship golf by hosting "The Hayat," an annual NCAA Men's Division 1 Invitational, FSGA and USGA state and national events, and other select tournaments throughout the year.
