In the heart of the North Carolina Sandhills, you'll find Pinehurst, the home of golf in America.
Pinehurst offers more than just great golf. In fact, the resort was originally founded as a health retreat, where the Pine-scented air was thought to have mystical restorative powers. Some say it still does.
Experience the art of leisure as you explore the timeless Village, with its sandy paths, historic homes and charming shops. While away the day in our award-winning Spa, take a croquet lesson, or kayak on our private lake. There's no shortage of ways to relax.
Walk beneath the whispering pines and you'll understand the wonder Donald Ross experienced as he first surveyed the property in 1901…and the exhilaration Payne Stewart felt in his stunning 1999 U.S. Open victory on No. 2. Take time to enjoy the relaxed southern hospitality of Pinehurst with your family or your favorite foursome. It's an experience everyone deserves at least once…though you'll find yourself coming back for more.
The Men's North & South Amateur Championship is the longest consecutive-running amateur golf championship in the United States. Over the past century, the best in the golf world have vied for its coveted Putter Boy trophy. The winners now serve as legends in the game - Walter Travis, Francis Ouimet, Billy Joe Patton, Jack Nicklaus, Curtis Strange and Davis Love III, among others - and continues to draw the best in amateur golf circles.
The stories of champions and the traditions of championship golf have been created at Pinehurst since 1898. As the site of more championships than any other golf course in the country, Pinehurst hosted 14 days of championship play in 2014, with back to back U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open Championships for the first time in their history.
Some say you can feel the spirit of Pinehurst as you turn onto Carolina Vista. This majestic century-old hotel with its signature copper cupola and sweeping verandas make you feel as though you've stepped back in time to an era when elegance defined grand hotels and resorts. Dubbed the "Queen of the South," the Carolina has 230 Four-Diamond guest rooms, including suites.
