Ford's Colony Country Club was designed by Dan Maples. And the Blue Heron course opened in its current form in 1999.
The Blue Heron course is 6873 yards, par 72, and it is the longest course of all these, (Blackheath, Blue Heron, and Marsh Hawk), in Ford's Colony Country Club.
Many of these holes are carved out of dense wetlands, which provide not only a unique golf course setting, but also a home to many different species of birds, fish and other aquatic life.
The course uses Bermuda on the green; therefore, it can maintain smooth green surfaces throughout the year.
